Questing vs Grinding vs Dungeons

How It Works
Each route's XP gain is its XP per hour times hours available. Dividing by your average XP per level converts that to levels of progress. We compare the three routes and flag the highest. The assumed XP rates are placeholders; enter the rates you actually observe in your game, since they vary hugely by title, level range, and group size.
What Should You Do?
Grinding usually wins on raw XP per hour but can be slower in feel and riskier solo. Questing adds gear and story progress, dungeons add group rewards. Pick the route whose real observed XP per hour is highest for your level bracket, and re-measure after a patch changes rates. For endgame, dungeons often pull ahead due to bonus rewards.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which route is always best?
None. It depends entirely on the XP rates you enter, which differ by game and level. Measure your own rates.
What is avg XP per level for?
It converts total XP into levels. Use your game's typical per-level XP; higher levels mean fewer levels per hour of XP.
Do dungeons include queue time?
Not automatically. If queues are long, lower the dungeon XP per hour to reflect real elapsed time.
How do I find my real XP rates?
Track XP gained over a timed session for each method, then enter those numbers for an accurate comparison.
Should I mix routes?
Often yes. Mixing keeps burnout low and can match daily bonuses; this tool compares pure routes for planning.
