Method
- Take the 300 records from the in-repo Top-300 game dataset.
- Keep records whose
platformsarray includes PC (all 300 qualify). - Tally each platform and each genre across the kept records.
- Report coverage as a count and as a share of the 300-game sample.
The aggregation is reproducible from the downloadable JSON linked on the dataset citation page.
Limitations
- The sample is the Top-300 popular PC games, not a random or complete catalog.
- Genre and platform labels come from the source API and may differ across regions or editions.
- Coverage counts describe this list and are not market-share estimates.
- A game can carry several genres, so genre percentages do not sum to 100%.
